We are committed to inclusive thinking in our workplace by partnering with accessibility experts Deque on an Empathy Lab. The lab used interactive workstations to highlight how people with disabilities experience technology – helping developers and designers build better, more accessible websites and tools for everyone.
Inclusion and Diversity
Social justice is deeply rooted at Guardian. We were founded by a civil rights attorney over 160 years ago, and today continue to bring our values to life through our focus on inclusion and diversity. We believe that thoughtful and innovative solutions are born from colleagues who are empowered to bring their best selves to work every day. Driving a culture that is inclusive and diverse at Guardian is not only the right thing to do, it also makes good business sense.
We’re proud of how far we’ve come. But we’re always striving to be better and do more. We’re committed to taking steps, big and small, to ensure that we are driving an even greater sense of inclusion across Guardian and creating an environment where every colleague feels valued, heard, and respected.
Our initiatives, partnerships, and sponsorships support diversity and inclusion, and we’re being recognized for our achievements:
Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality
Proud to be named one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) for the fifth consecutive year.
Corporate sponsor of the HRC
Corporate sponsor of the HRC – a distinction held by less than 50 companies – and supporter of the HRC’s Equality Act.
CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion
Supporter for the CEO Action for Diversity & InclusionTM, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance inclusion and diversity in the workplace.
We’re investing in our culture
We focus on providing an environment where our employees feel free to bring their authentic selves to work. This starts with a commitment to inclusion and diversity from senior management and includes tools and training on important topics such as unconscious bias as well as a curriculum of diversity-related courses on our internal learning system.
Employees looking to enhance their career development and gain insightful information about the consumers we serve can join any of our six Employee Resource Groups. These colleague-led organizations play an important role in helping our colleagues build connections and understanding, drive an inclusive culture, lead tough conversations so that we may learn and grow, and guide our Company, our leaders, and our business decisions.
We’re engaging through education
We have formed strategic partnerships with organizations who are dedicated to fighting for a better future.
Our commitment to Inclusion & Diversity is an integral part of our approach to Corporate Social Responsibility. Our strategic community investments focus on providing marginalized communities with economic opportunity and access to quality healthcare through our nonprofit partnerships in financial education, job and workplace training, and affordable dental care. From leveraging the skills and passions of our colleagues with Guardian for Good volunteering, to building a diverse talent pipeline, we collaborate with and fund nonprofit organizations that are fighting to help provide better futures for the most vulnerable and underserved in every phase of their life, health, and wealth.
