Eric Dinallo Joins Guardian as Executive Vice President and General Counsel

Predecessor Tracy Rich Retires

NEW YORK, N.Y., October 24, 2017 – The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America® (Guardian) today announced that Eric Dinallo will join the company as Executive Vice President and General Counsel in December. Dinallo succeeds Tracy Rich, who has served as Guardian’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel since 2009, and will be retiring.

As Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Dinallo will be responsible for leading Guardian's Legal, Regulatory, Compliance and Government Relations functions in addition to all corporate governance activities. He will serve on the company’s Executive Leadership Team and report directly to Deanna Mulligan, Guardian's president and chief executive officer.

“Eric is a highly respected and accomplished attorney and leader who has a deep understanding of our industry,” said Ms. Mulligan. “We’re privileged to have a leader of his caliber join Guardian and I’m confident he will contribute greatly to our company and uphold the values that have made Guardian successful.”

Dinallo joins Guardian from Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, where he most recently served as co-lead of the company’s insurance group representing financial services firms on regulatory, compliance, litigation and transactional issues. His prior experience includes senior-level leadership positions as Superintendent of Insurance for New York State, Global Head of Regulatory Affairs at Morgan Stanley, and General Counsel at Willis Holdings.

“I’m honored to be joining Guardian, a company I’ve enjoyed working closely with for many years, and one with values and standards that I truly admire” said Dinallo. “I’m looking forward to upholding the mission inherent in a mutual insurance company in serving its community of policyholders and customers.”

Dinallo serves on the Boards of Directors of the American Institute for Stuttering and Nazareth Housing, a non-for-profit committed to finding supportive and emergency housing for families in need. He received his B.A. in Philosophy in 1985 from Vassar College, and his M.A. in 1987 from Duke University School of Public Policy. Mr. Dinallo earned his J.D. from New York University.

After nearly a decade of service at Guardian, Tracy Rich will transition to “Of Counsel” at Guardian.

“We have been very honored to have someone of Tracy’s stature as both a leader and mentor across the industry as Guardian’s General Counsel all these years,” said Ms. Mulligan.
