Catherine Keating elected to Guardian board of directors
New York, N.Y.—July 9, 2025—The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America® (Guardian) announced today that Catherine Keating has been elected as an Independent Director to its board of directors.
Keating joins the board with two decades of C-suite experience in the wealth and asset management industry. Most recently, she led the Global Wealth Division at BNY Mellon and served as CEO of BNY Mellon, N.A., the company’s national bank subsidiary. In addition, she was a Senior Executive Vice President and member of the firm’s Executive Committee.

In her work leading BNY’s Wealth division, Keating managed global operations, overseeing hundreds of billions of dollars for individuals, families, family offices, businesses, and philanthropies around the world. During her tenure, she also led the successful launch of the firm’s Investor Solutions division, BNY's Multi-Asset Solutions segment serving institutional clients across the firm's businesses. Prior to that, Keating served as President and CEO of Commonfund. She also served in senior roles at J.P. Morgan, including Head of Investment Management Americas and CEO of the U.S. Private Bank.
Keating brings significant board experience in the financial sector, having previously served on the boards of Commonfund, Santander Bank, N.A. and Santander Holdings USA. She currently serves on the boards of the University of Virginia Law School and Inner-City Scholarship Fund, as well as on the Investment Committees for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the Helmsley Charitable Trust.
