When you meet Javier Jiménez, Account Manager at New York Blood Center, you’re struck by his warmth, humility, and unwavering commitment to helping others. Javier isn’t just a dedicated employee — he’s a true everyday champion, having donated blood more than 137 times and contributed over 16 gallons to those in need.

Inspired by the mission to save lives, Javier transitioned from a long career in insurance to organizing blood donation drives for New York Blood Center across Manhattan and beyond. He works with corporate groups, schools, religious organizations, and community partners to ensure each blood drive runs smoothly and donors feel supported.

He’s seen firsthand how vital blood donations are: Three out of five people are eligible to donate, yet only three out of 100 actually do. Javier is proud to be one of those three, and he encourages others to join him.

His dedication to his work is matched by his commitment to his own well-being. Javier admits that stress comes with the territory, but he faces challenges with a positive attitude, embracing solutions rather than feeling negative.

When stress creeps in, he turns to music, especially jazz, to lighten the mood and keep moving forward. He also relies on his employer-provided Guardian policies for life, disability, and accidental death coverage, giving him a sense that his loved ones are protected.

He’s careful about nutrition, opting for probiotics and limiting processed foods. He works to manage arthritis in his knees, all to ensure he’s physically able to be present at blood drives and support his team.

For Javier, being an everyday champion means thinking of others before himself. He’s passionate about blood donation, not just as a job but as a lifelong commitment. As he puts it, “You never know when someone’s going to need it. It could be your neighbor. It could be your family member. It could be yourself. Donating blood is an act of kindness, and it makes a difference.”
