Innovation &

transformation

Innovation continues to transform Guardian. Improving processes and developing new platforms, partnerships, products, and technologies enables us to deliver best-in-class services that support customers, members, and colleagues, and meet their evolving needs from one year to the next.

In 2022, we made our digital platforms more customer-centric, empathetic, and modern. We made it easier for customers to get things done — for example, issuing payments more quickly by processing millions of transactions automatically. And we added novel services, including ways to access precision mental health care and end-of-life grief support.

As proud as we are of the year’s accomplishments, we believe in innovation as an operating principle. We’re continually looking for bold new ideas to reinvent our business and serve our consumers even better.

Highlights:

We streamlined the user experience of our Guardian Anytime site, which delivers information and services to members, providers, employers, and brokers.

We integrated Spring Health, a leading innovator in mental health care, into short-term disability claims and other processes, allowing us to offer individuals quick access to counseling and other mental health resources when they need it most.12 The partnership grew Spring Health subscribers last year by 150,000.

We joined with the grief support app Empathy to help individuals filing for life insurance benefits after the loss of a loved one.13 It helps users with mental health counseling, funeral planning, and more. Family members and friends can access the platform through a mobile app, extending Guardian’s support more broadly.

We partnered with Nayya, a guided virtual enrollment platform that helps employees select the right benefits. Powered by AI and data science, Nayya Choose simplifies the benefits enrollment process by providing personalized recommendations based on demographics and lifestyle.14

With EVERFI, Guardian co-developed a pioneering financial curriculum for high school students, Minding Your Money: Skills for Life™, and continued to support The American College of Financial Services and its new Center for Economic Empowerment and Equality® in its effort to close the wealth gap for underserved communities.
