0:00​ – 0:46​ – Nick Carlson: My name's Nick Carlson. I live in Evergreen, Colorado. We're about 35 minutes from downtown Denver. But you have hiking trails, mountain biking trails. It's more of a little mountain town.

Back in 2003, I got drafted into the National Lacrosse League and signed here in Colorado. And I made as many contacts as I could to get a career that was going to take me past the playing days of lacrosse. I was starting to make a little bit of money. And I just wanted to save for the future, and more importantly, protect myself.

0:55​ –1:15​ – It was a little scary, I'll be totally honest, as a 26-year-old to purchase a whole life policy. And he sort of showed me the path and just said, if you stick to this in the future, we're going to be having a different conversation. I met Bresee about four or five years ago. We got married a year ago. And we had a little daughter about a month ago.
