On June 28, 2018, the California State Legislature passed the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), a groundbreaking expansion of privacy law in the United States.
The CCPA, now in effect as of January 1, 2020, provides California residents with new rights related to how their personal information is collected, used, and shared by businesses. Further, the law is not limited to companies located in California – in fact, any business with California-based customers, which meets the definitional requirements of the law, may need to follow the new regulations.
This webinar provides an overview of the CCPA and its impact on insurance companies, benefits brokers, and consumers. Our panel will address:
- The basics of CCPA, including who is covered, what data is in scope, and which businesses are impacted
- What you need to know
- Best practices to help prepare both your business and clients
