The New York State Paid Family Leave (NYPFL) Law, the nation’s most comprehensive paid family leave program, goes into effect January 1, 2018. Starting on that date, employees will be eligible to take paid family leave for maternity and paternity leave (bonding leave). Included leaves can relate to adoption and foster care prior to the child’s placement with family, care for a loved one with a serious health condition, and care related to a family member called to active military services.
