Dennis J. Manning, CLU, ChFC is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America.He began his career with Guardian in 1983 as a General Agent in Houston, Texas where his agency quickly became one of Guardian's leading field sales offices. In 1991, Mr. Manning joined the Guardian Home Office as Vice President. He returned to the field in 1994 as a General Agent in the company's White Plains, New York agency. In 1996 he returned to the Home Office as Senior Vice President.Since 1996, Mr. Manning has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and President. He was elected by the Board to be the Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2003. He is also a member of the company's Board of Directors. He is Chairman of the Board of RS Investment Management Co, LLC, and a Trustee on the Board of Trustees for RS Investment Trust and RS Variable Products Trust.
Mr. Manning is a graduate of Notre Dame University where he received his degree in Business Administration. He served with the United States Army in Vietnam. He is active in many industry organizations and is Past Chairman of the Life Insurance Council of New York, Inc. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Council of Life Insurers. In community life, he was formerly Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Forman School in Litchfield, Connecticut.
Mr. Manning and his wife Kathy have three children and reside in Stamford, Connecticut.
