S&P UPGRADES GUARDIAN RATING TO AA+
Standard & Poor’s (S&P) announced it has raised its credit and financial strength ratings of The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America from AA to AA+. In a recent press release, S&P highlighted the criteria behind their upgrade, including Guardian’s “very strong capital adequacy and liquidity, a stable earnings profile aided by a large block of participating whole life insurance, and diversified sources of earnings.” Standard & Poor’s further characterizes Guardian as having “…a conservative investment philosophy which has limited speculative-grade credit risk and no exposure to subprime mortgages.”
S&P also reaffirmed their stable outlook on Guardian, which is reflective of their expectations that “earnings will continue to be supportive of the rating and that the company’s enterprise risk management will continue to evolve with its product offerings.”
