The Guardian Life Insurance Company Of America Completes Funding For The Henry Deppe Chair At The American College
NEW YORK, N.Y., December 6, 2005 — The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian), the fourth largest mutual life insurance company in the country, announced today that it has completed the funding for the Henry A. Deppe Chair in Pensions and Retirement Planning at The American College, the nation's leading financial services educator. Guardian's donation helps to complete the endowment fund established at The College by associates and colleagues of Henry A. Deppe, a former Guardian General Agent.

The purpose of the Deppe Chair is to develop innovative and creative retirement-focused content and financial knowledge that can be integrated into The College's prestigious designation and degree programs. The Deppe Chair will bring additional academic and practice-oriented expertise to The American College. The Henry A. Deppe Lecture Series, which was created at The American College in 1989, focuses on pensions and retirement security issues. Mr. Deppe dedicated his career to this subject and is recognized nationally as an authority.

"I am proud to recognize one of our finest General Agents through this contribution to The American College lecture series," said Guardian CEO Dennis Manning. "Henry Deppe, through his dedication and service to the industry, speaks to Guardian's history of commitment to enriching lives. The company has a rich tradition of partnering with general agents, developing careers and fostering continuous learning in the insurance industry. Henry Deppe's continued commitment to the industry thorough his lecture series at The American College is a wonderful example of this.'
Prior to his retirement in 1987, Mr. Deppe's White Plains, N.Y. agency, National Pension Service, an agency of Guardian, was a consistent leader in several product lines. The agency's marketing platform centered on retirement planning for small businesses.
