Guardian's Women's Leadership Advisory Board Holds Annual Meeting in New York
Re-affirms Guardian's commitment to career-building resources for female Financial Representatives

The Women's Leadership Advisory Board held its annual meeting at Guardian headquarters in New York City on April 23-24 to tackle issues and exchange ideas for leading Financial Representatives (FRs) to greater success across Guardian's career agency system.
Facilitated by the Individual Markets' Women's Market team, the Board offered ideas and recommendations for shaping career-building resources for female FRs. The Board also produced the program agenda for the 2007 Women's Leadership Summit, an annual gathering of female FRs which will take place October 20-21 in Phoenix. Other discussion topics included enhancements to Guardian's Women's Channel, the ongoing alliance with Women in Insurance and Financial Services, and the various ways in which the Board can act as a valued resource to Guardian management, General Agents, and field recruiting managers.
President and CEO Dennis Manning opened the first day's meeting with welcoming remarks and a brief update on first-quarter results. Following Dennis, Dave Allen, Senior Vice President, Individual Markets, shared corporate plans to focus and expand current resources for the small business market. The group was then introduced to Individual Markets' new Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President, Maria Umbach, who expressed her enthusiasm for the Board's contribution. During the second day of the meeting, Dave Nelson, Vice President, Individual Markets, re-affirmed management's commitment to career-building support for female Financial Representatives.
Established in 2006, the Women's Leadership Advisory Board is composed of 13 female Financial Representatives from several Guardian general agencies. The Board's mission is to foster leadership and career excellence among female FRs and promote a better understanding and response to recruiting, mentoring, and retaining female financial professionals in Guardian's career distribution system. The Board also partners with Guardian management on planning Guardian's annual Women's Leadership Summit which, last year in Miami, attracted over 75 participants.
