Corporate Contributions Program
Throughout our 147-year history, Guardian has been committed to pursuing a strong tradition of public involvement, giving back to the communities in which we operate through employee volunteerism and a well-established philanthropic program. As part of our commitment, our company has historically supported a wide variety of not-for-profit organizations in the areas of community services, health and human services, education, and the arts and cultural institutions.

Since 2003, the principal focus of our charitable grants has been on affordable housing in each of the communities in which we operate, including New York City; Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Spokane, Washington; and Appleton, Wisconsin. Our mission is to support initiatives that make our communities better places to live and increase opportunities for people to build better tomorrows. We primarily support non-profit organizations that address a wide array of affordable housing needs encompassing the renovation of existing housing, building new housing, counseling people in need of housing, and forming community development strategies. These needs are universal across all of the areas where our employees live and work.

Helping to drive the success of our efforts is the time and talent that Guardian associates from across the enterprise contribute to affect change and help their fellow Americans in need. It's this involvement and commitment to making a difference that provides an opportunity for our company to demonstrate who we are and what we stand for, while also illustrating examples of our values in action.
Guardian's corporate mission statement, in part, reads "Our purpose is to enrich the lives of people we touch... we help individuals and employers fulfill their responsibilities and build better tomorrows." Our mission statement guides both the products and services we offer and enables individuals to achieve greater financial security. Our philanthropic focus on affordable housing, helps individuals and their families in the local communities in which we operate achieve stable and secure housing, enabling them to "build better tomorrows."
Matching Gift Program for Higher Education
Guardian also supports higher education through its matching gift program. We match contributions made by eligible employees and field associates to qualifying colleges and universities.

The Edward Kane Guardian Life Welfare Trust
In addition to addressing the needs of the community, Guardian has also long been committed to the well-being of its employees. Established over 75 years ago, the trust has, since its inception, assisted needy employees with grants or loans when catastrophe strikes and no other resources are available to them.
Guardian recently renamed the trust in honor of Edward K. Kane upon his retirement from Guardian's Board of Directors and as Executive Vice President of the Company. Mr. Kane has been a long-term, committed champion of the trust's cause and one of its most generous supporters.
To make a tax-deductible donation to the Trust to provide support to Guardian's employees, a check should be made payable to "Edward Kane Guardian Life Welfare Trust" and submitted to Richard O'Donnell, Treasurer of the Trust, at Guardian Life, 7 Hanover Square - Mail Station H 17-C, New York, New York 10004.
