Creating the Optimal Portfolio
Let’s face it; we are only human and our emotions can get the better of us. Wide performance swings in a portfolio may cause adverse reactions, such as over buying during an upswing and then selling at low prices during a down swing.
Guardian Investor ProSeriesSM Variable Annuities offer a broad array of investment strategies so that you may be able to build an optimal portfolio to meet your needs and will allow you to control the emotional influence on making financial decisions during any market conditions (positive or negative).
Guardian Investor ProSeriesSM Variable Annuities currently consists of Guardian Investor ProFreedom Variable AnnuitySM (B Series) and (C Series), also known as ProFreedomSM.
Why choose to invest in Guardian Investor ProSeriesSM Variable Annuities*?
|Access to Investment Strategies||To help you create an optimal portfolio, Guardian Investor ProSeriesSM Variable Annuities offer 30 variable investment options across four different investment strategies, such as traditional investment options, risk managed options, sector focused options and alternative investment options**. |
The money managers and variable investment options have gone through our rigorous five step evaluation and selection process. You don’t need access to all of the investment options in the world, just the ones that may be the best suited to meeting your needs.
|Tax-Deferred Growth***||Gains earned during the life of your annuity grow tax-deferred, which means you don’t pay taxes until the gains are withdrawn. This can give you significant advantages, especially if you begin to make withdrawals when in a lower tax bracket.|
|Ability to Secure Future Lifetime Income****||Available to you when you first purchase the annuity is our Guardian SecureFuture Income Rider for no additional fee. After owning the annuity for two years or more, this rider allows you to turn investment gains and premium into a guaranteed future stream of lifetime income, which is unaffected by any market condition. You select the income start date within the rules of the rider.|
|Death Benefit Features||Variable annuities offer a number of death benefit options that can protect your beneficiaries should you die during the accumulation period (before annuity payments have begun).|
Included in the annuity is the contract value death benefit; however, the annuity offers optional death benefits for an additional fee that you can select from to further enhance the annuity’s death benefit guarantee and help you achieve your financial legacy planning needs.
* Annuities may not be available in all states.
** Investing in alternative asset classes involves special risk because they may be highly speculative and leveraged or may use various hedging techniques, like options and derivatives. Hedging techniques could increase losses since they are not reflected in historical standard deviation measurements. Also, there may be unique tax implications if the fund is traded in foreign markets and may be highly dependent on the manager’s techniques for investing and selecting appropriate risk. Often, alternative asset classes are subject to less regulation than publicly offered investments because alternatives are not registered under U.S. Securities laws or similar laws in other countries.
***There is no additional tax deferral benefit for annuity contracts purchased in an IRA or other tax-qualified plan, since these are already afforded tax-deferred status. Thus, an annuity should only be purchased in an IRA or qualified plan if you value some of the other features of the annuity and are willing to incur any additional costs associated with the annuity to receive such benefits.
****A deferred income annuity rider is an optional feature available at no additional cost. This rider provides you with a stream of income payments created from monies you transfer into the rider. The income payments will start on a date in the future that you select. You should consider your liquidity needs before any transfer is made to the rider. You will not have access to the amounts transferred except through the future stream of fixed income payments created by your transfers to the rider.

Variable Annuities are long-term investment vehicles that involve certain risks, including possible loss of the principal amount invested. The investment return and principal value may fluctuate so that the investment, when redeemed, may be worth more or less than the original cost. Withdrawals of taxable amounts will be subject to ordinary income tax and possible mandatory federal income tax withholding. If taken prior to age 59½, a 10% IRS penalty may also apply. Withdrawals affect the variable annuity’s death benefit, cash surrender value and any optional benefits and may also be subject to a contingent deferred sales charge.
