Guardian Provides National Access to In-Network Medical Benefits

NEW YORK, October 29, 2008 — The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian), a leading provider of employee and voluntary benefits for small and mid-sized companies, announced the introduction of the national Extended Access "travel network" for its health plan members. Members utilizing health services offered through most of Guardian’s regional PPO networks can obtain medical coverage across state lines— at in-network prices— when they travel or temporarily live outside of their network service area.
Traditionally medical plans offer in-network discounts within a particular region. Many employees do not have access to in-network prices from a national pool of providers. With the Guardian Extended Access Network an employee from New Jersey can receive in-network care in California, for example, if they are traveling or temporarily relocate to care for a family member.
