On May 4, 2012, Guardian's New York Home Office volunteers joined forces with Habitat for Humanity-NYC to help revitalize the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Towers Community Center, located in Harlem, NY.

The event was part of an annual volunteer effort called "A Brush with Kindness”. Volunteers spent the day painting walls and murals in the community center's meeting rooms, adding new colors to brighten the lives of those who gather there on a daily basis.

"It was fulfilling because I knew I was giving a part of myself to help the local community," says Leslie Lawrence, Legal Assistant, Law Department Insurance Operations. "I think it's great that Guardian participates in these local community service events, helping to better the lives of our children and neighbors in the Greater New York area."
