We're a mutual company. That means we are owned by our policyholders – and we manage our company in their best interests.

Our corporate strategy and mission are grounded in our responsibilities as a mutual company.
As a mutual insurer, we have the ability to make business decisions that will benefit the company over the long term, not Wall Street’s short-term, quarter-to-quarter demands. We follow a conservative risk management philosophy, avoiding overly risky investments and resisting market fads in favor of proven strategies designed to build our capital and protect our financial strength.

Additionally, our whole life policyholders benefit directly from our mutual structure through competitive dividend payouts that lower the long-term net cost of life insurance.

Through our 5,000 employees and network of over 3,000 financial representatives in more than 80 agencies nationwide, we help almost 3 million individual insureds stay secure and prosper. Our offerings include life and disability income insurance, retirement services, and investment products. We protect six million participants in employee benefits programs with life, vision, disability, critical illness and dental insurance, in addition to qualified pension plans.
