Deanna M. Mulligan, CLU, ChFC, is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America.

She joined Guardian in 2008 as Executive Vice President in charge of the company's Individual Life & Disability business. In this role she was responsible for developing and leading Guardian’s product and business strategy to drive the company's continued growth in individual life and individual disability products and markets. She also had oversight of Guardian's Berkshire Life Insurance Company of America subsidiary.

Ms. Mulligan was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Guardian in 2010. She was named Chief Executive Officer effective July 1, 2011. She is a member of the Company's Board of Directors; a Director and Chairman of RS Investment Management Co., LLC; and a Trustee of RS Investment Trust and RS Variable Products Trust.

Ms. Mulligan has a background in both strategy consulting and operational management. She founded DMM Management Solutions, LLC, a life insurance consultancy. She was a Principal at McKinsey and Company where she additionally served as co-leader of the North American Life Insurance Practice and was a member of the firm’s Organizational Performance Practice. Ms. Mulligan also held senior positions at AXA Financial, New York Life Insurance Company, and at ChannelPoint, a technology enterprise.

Ms. Mulligan is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, with High Distinction, and holds an MBA degree from Stanford Graduate School of Business. She is a Director on the Boards of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) and the Life Insurance Council of New York, Inc. (LICONY), and a Trustee of The American College. She is Co-President & Trustee of the North Salem Open Land Foundation, and has served on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations, including Project Renewal and the Red Cross of Greater New York. In 2011, she was recognized in Fortune magazine’s annual ranking of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” and featured in Crain’s New York Business as one of “The 50 Most Powerful Women in NY.”
